couple of bromide dates – tonight at the 12 bar , denmark st. wc2. onstage at the marginally

earlier time of 11:15. then next sun 25th jan at the elbow room 89-91, chapel market n1. it’s

free to get in, onstage 7:30pm

 

the rocks meanwhile are busy in the studio innit, and repairing their sleeping bags in

preparation for some uk live action in feb. details to follow.. lastly special needs debut single

new york was sizeable – see full write up in artrocker 107 + review of the sin-e gig with some

excellent pics here. the rocks last 2003 gigs will be at moles club 14, george st, bath with the

dirty on thurs 11th dec £5 adm, on stage 11pm and then **artrockers of the year ** at the

garage highbury cnr, n5 sat 13th dec. this one’s free to artrocker members – full details here.

celeste is in the shops now, cd only this time. for the chains better try hmv rather than virgin or

you can get it online at amazon.

ahead of this there’s plenty of gig action – this thurs 13th nov special kerrang! night thing at

the barfly, camden. on stage 8:30 £6 adv. sadly this will be drummer aidan’s last gig as he has

been offered a full time placement as quarantine officer with her majesty’s customs.. oh well.

then it’s three dates in new york – luna lounge sat 15th, sin-e tues 18th and plaid wed 19th

nov.

rocks tour. er, maybe.. well they’re off to sheffield tomorrow thurs 16th oct to play at the

octagon students union thing as part of the acupuncture tour then it’s nottingham rock city on

sun 19th oct but not sure about the rest of the tour as yet.. on top of this customs officials

appear to have delivered a different drummer to the band for these dates – this one is called

rob and he no like squirrels.. more gnus soon including new single celeste  + don’t forget to

listen to john kennedy on xfm next week when the rocks will be his artists in residence. there’ll

be session tracks broadcast throughout the week plus he’ll be chatting with the band on weds

20th. 

   

and finally bromide returns to the owl platform at the 12 bar denmark st. wc2 tonight at the

slightly earlier time of 11pm..

morning, time to wake the squirrel*. the rocks are back in action this thurs 11th sept at the

metro, oxford st. (opp. big entrance virgin megastore) supporting the ludes. on stage 9pm. £5

to get in. then it’s up to manchester/in the city on mon 15th sept to play at night & day 26,

oldham st. onstage 11pm. free entry.

 

*if you locate a nut depot and it’s already been opened then there’s not a lot we can do, sorry.

unless of course you’ve had your nuts microchipped or individually photographed.

last chance to see the rocks tomorrow, thurs 24th july before they take a badly needed break

to sort out drummer aidan’s sense of direction. looks like someone has interfered with his

internal workings whilst he was held in quarantine recently.. so if you see him wandering

around please accompany him in person to the windmill, 22 blenheim gardens SW2 for around

8pm. he’s relatively friendly and likes talking about the libertines and ‘homies’. directions

here. special needs also performing.

tonights the night as mr. young quite rightly pointed out and the rocks will be celebrating the

release of their new single we got it / the bomb with a gig at hammersmith working men’s club

alongside fellow chaos merchants special needs and television worshippers razorlight. full

details here.

following some phenomenal wrestling action earlier in the week (see next week’s nme for a full

write up on the acupuncture gig) the rocks play a free show tonight at fortress studios 34-38,

provost st N1 opp. moorfield eye. all you’ve got to do is email

www.smsmessenger.co.uk/killallhippies- they’re on stage at midnight. there’s also some

entertaining new pics up on their site.

more rocks action tonight, dirty water club at the boston arms, opp. tufnell park tube. onstage

9pm £6. drummer aidan has managed to get day release from quarantine for this one (what he’ll

be wearing though is as yet unclear).

 

meanwhile bromide will be pestering the insomniacs at the 12bar club, denmark st. wc2 this

coming mon 23rd june on stage 11:30pm and then airing new mini-opera ‘the trouble with

bromide’ at the enterprise opp. chalk farm tube on tues 24th june at 8:30pm £4 to get in.

dohp! no rocks gig in bristol tonight.. drummer aidan has been recalled by UK quarantine

officials after test results showed up ‘irregularities’ following the amsterdam incident (news

8/5/03), but apparently he will be allowed to do the next london date which is tues 11th june at

the metro, oxford st. supporting the livetastic whirlwind heat. the rocks will be on stage at

9pm. £6 on the door. + new release date for the single is 14th july.

** the rocks release new single**  the follow up to their storming debut is another double A

side, well kind of.. this time it’s we got it and the bomb going head to head with save the wolf

standing in as referee plus the fantastic video for we got it. out in the shops 7 july on cd and very

special limited edition 2 track 7’ vinyl. ahead of this there’s plenty of live action – fri 23 may the

royal park (cellar), leeds with bromide and tennesse train crash / sat 24 may the forum, tunbridge

wells with mower and british sea power / tues 27 may artrocker at buffalo bars, highbury corner

N1 and weds 4 june fleece & firkin, bristol with 80’s matchbox b-line disaster, who the band

have been supporting on a couple of tour dates recently in portsmouth and brighton.

 

bromide will also be doing some beardy acoustic trickery (i.e. the trick is to get to the end of the

song) downstairs at the betsey trotwood, 56 farringdon rd EC1R on thurs 29 may on stage 9pm.

very important gig news.. sat 10th may ‘scratchstock’ at rota/notting hill arts centre. this will be

the first ever scratchy records showcase. it’s completely free and runs from 4- 8pm. the  venue is

opposite the record & tape exchange, just east of notting hill gate tube. for info on who’s playing

the rocks meanwhile are back from their amsterdam trip despite drummer aidan being detained

in quarantine after he was seen acting ‘like a monkey from 2001’ near a canal. if you speak dutch

then this review of the gig and interview will make sense to you. the band began a frantic

schedule of gigs yesterday supporting hot hot heat in birmingham and will be playing at water

rats, 328 grays inn road, wc1 tonight with mower. on stage 9pm. more tour dates and news

about next single schoooon..

figures the solo idiot contraption will be stretching from the enterprise in camden at 8pm on tues

15th april down to the 12 bar, denmark st. at 11:30 pm on the same night. come along and make

very special news.. dastardly, scratchyrecords head of a&r has had kittens. 5 in all, 4 x black and

1 x black and white. picture to follow. looks like they might all have homes to go to but if anyone

nottingham. then next one in town is fri 21st march dirty water club at the boston arms, opp.

ooops.. rocks video wasn’t on christian o’connell’s show last night after all. sorry if you’d tuned in

specially. apparently it will be soon so will let you know. however the single was played yesterday

on radio 1’s evening session. their next gig is tues 4th march at club fandango / the dublin castle,

camden parkway nw1. on stage 10pm. new release date for single is mon 10th march. you can get
