bromide
acoustic show from scratchy main man playing songs from new album ‘some electric sometime’ – out now

"Musically upbeat, but lyrically bruised fabulous first studio album in fifteen years.. captures the momentary nature of life, and does so magnificently"

pennyblackmusic.co.uk

"An irresistible collection of lo-fi, acoustic guitar-driven pop” shout4music.com

"Releasing sporadic, well received, albums of home hewn wisdom the singer is now ready to return.. Simon Berridge's voice is as strong as ever, with the songwriter only gaining in sound and fury” clashmusic.com

rosie wilby + band
rare london outing for centaurian singer and comic rosie wilby and her band. if you remember getting ‘making music’ magazine in the 90s - i know i do, usually from a guitar shop a few feet away from the 12bar - inside would invariably be something about rosie and her music. nowadays she’s more likely to be entertaining people with her comedy but tonight it’s back to the songs and her “indie Loretta Lynn-meets-kd lang styled vocalstime out

russ chandler
claire at work gave me a cd by her partner russ a few months ago. it’s called ‘last night in babylon’ and somehow manages to trace a thread that runs from the crimean war through bob marley’s kingston, jamaica to the new york of andy warhol’s factory and the velvet underground. russ has dug deep for folk songs that aren’t constrained by time, style or place and the result is a refreshing insight into popular music. hopefully he’ll also be playing the one that reminds me of steptoe & son era london..

o’bui & thorne ensemble
mike o’bui has been putting on gigs in tooting and more recently at the horse near waterloo since the days of tanita tikaram and the ‘new acoustic movement’. thankfully he’s asked me to play on several occasions so it’s a pleasure to be returning the favour and getting him to bring his breezy, conversational and heartfelt songs, often reminiscent of the smiths over to the 12bar.

+ late set from dear cobra – think kim deal trapped inside one of the bad seeds

+ poetry from gerry mitchell – think capt mannering trapped inside sergeant wilson. not like that.

+ dj matt chilton (spork, renderplant, vultures)
